It’s my birthday today and I spent most of it sat by my 85-year-old dad’s bed in a hospital ward. Funnily enough, I did exactly the same thing last year. Back then, he’d broken his neck and they didn’t think he was going to make it, but when I walked into the ward on April 1st, he was sat up drinking a cup of tea. Today was similar. He looked like death last night and hadn’t eaten for days and today, he managed three meals, a hot cross bun and a couple of jokes.
Making a million pounds couldn’t be further from my mind. I can see it is going to be tough juggling work, the school holidays and my dad’s hospital visits for the next fortnight. It is what it is and I am going to try not to fret. Andy Puddicombe said in one of his animations that you have to remember, the blue skies are always just above the clouds.
I am just thankful that Dad had taken a turn for the better today. I couldn’t ask for a better birthday present than that.
I am a badass – good times and bad.
